What Hillside has to offer!
 |
"Upon leaving Hillside, I went to junior high
public school, where I maintained honor roll as well as being a
part of the Math Science Challenge club for minority students,
excelling in math and science. I then went on to Susquehanna High
School, where I was inducted in the National Honors Society, was a
member of the Prinicipal's Advisory Commitee as well as being
involved in school basketball. I graduated from Susquehanna being named as
an All-American Scholar and being listed in the Who's Who in US
High Schools. From there I was accepted to Morehouse College,
Hampton University, and Oakwood College. I chose Oakwood College
because I appreciated the Christian atmosphere that I was nurtured
in while at Hillside SDA church school. While attending Oakwood
College in Huntsville, AL, I majored in Allied Health Sciences and
studied under an academic scholarship awarded to me as a Freshman.
I became a member of the Allied Health Society as well as the
Pre-Alumni Council. During the Summer before my Sophomore
year, I was chosen to be a part of a paid internship with
Howard University, studying Physical Therapy. During my Sophomore
year, I became the President of the Allied Health Society
while maintaining a 3.85 overall GPA. I studied hard my second
year, taking 22 semester hours and was able to meet the
requirements to get into Andrews University School of Physical
Therapy to pursue my Master's degree. While at Andrews, I served
as Class President, became the student representative of the
faculty and staff board, and contributed to the founding of the
Doctorate of Physical Therapy program. I graduated in 2002 with my
Master's in Physical Therapy and am now working as a physical
therapist and administrator in the Southern Atlanta, GA area. I have
recently been asked to present my published Master's research
to the National Association of Physical Therapists Convention in
Boston, Mass. and am a candidate for my Doctorate of Science in
Physical Therapy. Does Christian education work? Yes. We were
taught early on at Hillside to reach higher than the highest human
thoughts imaginable. The Lord has taken my God-given wisdom and
has done "exceedingly, abundant above all I could ever ask or
think." Christian education is not a benefit, but a life
blessing and I thank Hillside for it's contribution to my life."

"Hillside school....Although I never had the
opportunity to attend grades 1-8, even being in kindergarten started
me off in the right path. I still had chances to interact with the
students, which made me want to attend the school. The whole
atmosphere felt more like a family where it made you feel as if
you could always get help from your teacher as well as older
students. I was devastated when the school was closed down
before I entered the 1st grade. Hillside school showed me that
working together is necessary in life, and that there is no shame in
asking help from others."

"I only spent one year at Hillside School but
it affected me profoundly. I
learned how to respect others regardless of their possessions,
abilities, or lack thereof. I
was also taught to place a premium on my education while making
sports, video games, and other recreational activities secondary.
These principles proved to be invaluable during my
matriculation through school as I graduated from high school as
valedictorian, completed my bachelor’s degree in the standard four
years, and have recently attained my master’s degree in Health
Information Systems at the age of 23.
I would recommend Hillside School, and better yet Christian
education as a whole, to anyone."

the classroom. Students receive a competitive as well as spiritually
rounded education. Students receive personal attention that other schools
can not match, they participate in community events and take part in
